Scientists, land managers and planners as well as administrators and politicians on all levels need soil data to guide their efforts towards improved land and soil management. Although soil information in the Alpine region is abundant, it remains challenging to obtain data specific to a given location, scale or issue.
To simplify your search, we composed a selection of relevant soil data viewers in five Alpine countries, namely Austria, France, Germany, Italy and Slovenia.
Alpine Soil WebGIS
Developed by the Links4Soils team, this tool allows the user to view freely available regional, national and trans-border Alpine soil data collected or registered during the Links4Soil project. The metadata viewer is built on Open Layers libraries and therefore contains only the spatial extent of soil data, not the data itself. It is meant for use in combination with the Geonetwork node below.
Geonetwork Node
Built during the Links4Soils project, this tool serves as a common entry point to the Alpine region’s soil-related spatial data infrastructure. The Geonetwork Node provides metadata editing and search functions enabling access to data sets and network services developed for spatial data sets.
