Case Studies

Scientific discovery is not limited to background research and laboratory analyses. It also includes on-site experiments carried out under real-life circumstances, which can support or challenge the conclusions reached during the first two phases. Beyond being valuable scientific tools, practical case studies can also serve as engaging demonstrations that make information more tangible and easier to digest. Additionally, they can provide interactive ways to learn more about specific topics such as soil and sustainable soil management.

With this in mind, the Links4Soils team developed its first guidance document for decision-makers. Soil management practices in the Alps is a collection of science-based best soil management practices featuring case studies across different Alpine countries and land-use sectors.

What’s next?

The SOIL:OurInvisibleAlly project will go a step further and create demonstration plots where project partners will implement and openly showcase best practice examples on their own premises. Each pilot site will be conceptualized based on state-of-the-art soil knowledge and will display experiments concerning one or more scientifically proven sustainable soil management method(s).
